No Plan B: Leaving Her Job to Chase a Career in Fitness
Sometimes the right opportunity doesn’t arrive with fanfare. Sometimes, it’s just a quiet moment. A scroll through Facebook. A post that catches your eye. A split-second decision to say, “Why not?”
That’s exactly how Hannah Luckavitch first found Fitasylum.
“I was just having a look one day, and I saw it come up on Facebook. And I was like, I might as well apply and see what happens.”
At the time, Hannah was stuck in a job that didn’t inspire her. She knew she wanted more. More energy, more purpose, and a real reason to get up in the morning. When she saw the PT course was running in Liverpool, just a short journey from home, it felt like a sign.
She didn’t just dip a toe in. She jumped.
“I literally left my job and didn’t have a backup plan,” she says. “I had no plan B.” It was a risk. But it gave her momentum. With nothing to fall back on, she threw herself into something that finally felt like hers.
Finding Her Footing Again
Walking into the Liverpool course on day one, Hannah admits she was nervous. She didn’t know what to expect, and didn’t know if she’d be any good on the course. But by the end of the first weekend, things had already started to click. “Everyone just clicked, like, instantly,” she says. “We were all really nervous, but it just worked.”
The environment wasn’t what she’d expected from a classroom-style course. Instead of feeling stiff or overly formal, it felt grounded, led by people who had real industry experience and a genuine interest in helping others.
“You never felt like you were getting spoken down to,” she says. “You were learning from people who had actually been in the industry.”
The sense of community made a big difference too.
“You just felt comfortable…You didn’t feel like, ‘Oh my God, I don’t know what I’m doing.’ Everyone helped each other out.”
What’s Changed Since?
Since qualifying 2021, Hannah’s stepped into the fitness world with a completely different mindset.
“It’s changed my life. I feel like I’ve got a purpose now. I’m excited for the future.”
She’s now training clients and building a career that finally aligns with who she is. Sports massage is next on her list, and she’s even considering setting up her own business.
“It’s the first time I’ve actually wanted to go to work,” she says. “I never thought I’d say that.”
Looking Ahead
Hannah’s story isn’t about overnight transformation or dramatic before-and-after moments. It’s about backing yourself, even when it’s uncomfortable and stepping into a path that finally feels right.
These days, she’s still doing what she loves. Hannah now works as a Personal Trainer at TS Boxing & Fitness Academy, helping others build strength and confidence, just like she did.
“I didn’t know what I was getting myself into... but I’m so glad I did it.”
We managed to grab Hannah for a catch up not long after she qualified back in 2021.
